unique, tranquil, beautiful, no english, wish I stayed longer
My husband and I stopped here for one night on our way to Khao Sak National Park, but we wish we would have stayed longer. The landscape was incredible. I wish we could have stayed another few days to sit in our hammock on the porch, walk the beatiful trails and explore more! There are vegetables and flowers and many different plants growing on the property. There were only two things people may find undesirable, which we found to be charming. The staff when we arrived did not speak English at all and we used some hand motions to communicate. Although the next morning there was a staff member who spoke with us in English to clear some things up! The second thing is that the food options are very simple/limited. I highly recommend this place!! Would stay here in a heartbeat if we ever go back to Thailand! …
Stayed here just before Christmas. Absolutely beautiful location. Little bungalows are charming and the view when you wake up in the morning is breath taking! It can be a little cold in the morning, so make sure you take some pyjamas. The staff don't really speak English so a great opportunity to practice your Thai! Wi-fi is strong.
Incredible stay. Hidden gem.
One of the best stays I have ever had. This property is absolutely incredible- a gem. It sits at the base of a tall limestone mountain separated by a beautiful, clear creek you can swim in. Fog rolls over the mountains and you can lay in your hammock and watch it turn to sunshine. The property has several Bungalows you can stay in with beautifully stained wood floors, comfortable beds, big bathrooms, patios with hammocks and chairs etc. The property has an organic garden and the staff uses food from the garden in their meals served every day. There are bikes and a motorbike you can rent upon request. The Bungalows are about 6.5km to the pier where you can take group or private long tail boats into Khao Sok National Park. Secret- The Ratchaprapha Dam side of the park is the least touristy. I saw one group of 6 foreigners the entire time I was there in the park near the pier. An is the owner of the property and she is absolutely wonderful. She made me feel at home immediately and I miss her dearly. Here are some of the things she did for me during my stay: - Coordinated a minibus to drop me off near the property from Surat Thani. She personally picked me up from the stop. - Made me breakfast before I checked in - Walked me to my bungalow with an umbrella one of the days because it was raining - Made me a special smoothie - Helped me learn more Thai - Negotiated a great price for a long tail boat for 6 hours - Shared a special natural pool location with me that was very local to Surat Thani/Pha Nga. - Arranged a minibus taxi to take me back to the airport for a very cheap price - Greeted me and said goodbye each time I left and returned to the property I really felt at home here because of An, her wonderful hospitality, and her amazing property. You have to stay here!! I wish I could have stayed here at least a week. …
A "cocooning" place
Our stay at Ann’s guest house was like a miracle We are trying to travel with no travelling guide books and interacting with the locals as much as possible. A week before new year’s we hadn’t booked a place to stay for that period and were dreaming of spending that time in Khao Sok National Park. In fact we had already booked our flight tickets but hadn’t realized how popular the place was and how fully booked it could be. Fortunately, thanks to the word of mouth, a Thai friend called a friend who knew a boat driver in Ratchaprapa Dam who knew of a guest house newly opened! Even though it was fully booked for the night of the 31st of December to the 1st of January, the owner Ann, found a way for us to have a bed and be able to stay with them for 5 nights. The guest house is located by the river, at the bottom of the “Hat Mountain”, a stunning a peaceful location. Even though apart from the owner Ann, the staff could speak little English, we rapidly felt like home with family. So many founds memories and good moments with Ann, Tuton, the handy man, Tuton’s girls, Clim 7 and Bim 3, two adorable girls calm, smart and always helping around. There are bicycles available for free. Ann gave us plenty of recommendations and arranged for us to be picked up or brought everywhere we needed when we needed it. Tuton took us for a ride on a bamboo boat and then on the scooter + side-car, etc. For new year’s, Ann cooked for us special traditional Thai dinner and breakfast, as well as yummy muffins! We were absolutely spoiled during our stay with Ann and family’s in Ratchaprapa. …
