Best trip for our family this year!

Traveling with boys to see flowers is challenging. But with talented young local guides help us to enjoy the story behind each part of the garden. Fruits, flowers, birds and insects becoming more interesting when someone can explain them well.

Not thrilled about the park

The Arboretum is nothing impressive, but if you head on the road that goes up, you’ll find a lovely village right at the border with Burma which is called Ban Pha Hi. It has amazing views and a unique hilltribe feel.

Border mountain viewpoint, MaiSae Road, 100meter from the arboretum (garden)

Beautiful mountain lookout.
Manage by the military guarding the border between Thailand and Burma. It’s open to public.
Few visitors are aware of this location.
Just 100 meters further from the entrance of the Doi Chang Ma Faung Arboretum.

Really special

It’s off the beaten track and the first attempt to get there was aborted as a land slide blocked the road. However this place really is a gem. We arrived at about 10am on a Friday morning and had the entire place to ourselves. It’s just a really beautiful garden and extremely peaceful. You really don’t have to know anything about plants (I don’t) to appreciate the colours, the arrangements and the sheer variety. My teenage daughter grumbled a bit but even she liked the climbs and the views. Truly a hidden gem and highly recommended.
