I have visited this restaurant/accommodation and have to say the food is freshly prepared, tasty with a good choice of menu. Accomodation new and in my opinion up to hotel standard. In the main Thai food is served but, they do prepare western food should you wish. (steak etc)
Very comfortable accomodation
We found it difficult to find decent accomodation for a reasonable price in Chiang Dao until we found this little gem just away from the village. It was low season so the restaurant wasn't open but the accomodation is one of the best we have stayed in while in Thailand. The rooms are a good size and with tasteful modern decor. Comfortable seating area, mega hot shower, cold aircon and the oh so comfortable king size bed. We both slept like babies. Runs rings around the main hotel in town and was only 100baht/night more expensive. Don't stay in town, drive the extra 2 minutes to stay at Good Tree Art. You won't be disappointed.
Yummy food with good presentation, lovely ambience, clean and friendly waiting staff, good selection of liquors n beer
Beautiful, friendly little place!
We stumbled across 'good tree art' accidentally whilst looking for a place to stay in Chiang Dao. Located about 1km off the main drag, on the way up towards the cave and hot springs, this was a good setting for exploring the local area. Most tourists to this area have their own transport or rent motorbikes locally, but as we did not, the friendly owner and his brother helped us out, driving us to the sights of the local area by motorbike, which was really nice. The hotel itself is small, with only four rooms set around a beautiful little courtyard garden. The rooms are beautifully presented, with comfy beds (some of the best we have slept in in asia). The rooms all have french windows leading onto the garden. When we arrived, the owner brought us a tray of tea to the room which was nice! There is tv in the rooms and a well stocked mini bar. We didnt try the restaurant but the menu looked great. What really makes the place so good though, is the staff. The owner speaks excellent english and is happy to share his knowledge of the local area. He even told us about a buddist festival that was on on the evening of our stay. He said it would be a great chance to experience the local culture, and gave us some flowers with candles (a traditional offering) to take along. We had a great time at the festival, it was a real experience of the true Thailand. The owner is also an artist, and his sculptures and paintings are on display around the rooms, gardens and restaurant, which really adds something to the place.
