Newly renovated Thai traditional house

Such a hidden gem. This newly renovated Thai traditional house is a must-see if you are going to Samet island. This teakwood house is very well preserved and hard to find these days. Inside, you will find beautiful old potteries and antiques that you won’t see anywhere else. The botanical garden is as stunning. This place is filled with rare plants and flowers. The landscape is well maintained, lovely for garden weddings, photo sessions, and such. Highly recommended.

A magical place!!.....

Tucked away, just of the highway near Ban Phe, this magical find is a ’must see’ for all visitors to Thailand.
An old Thai house set in wonderful gardens and lake is a treasure trove of antiques and artworks from all over Asia.
Established by Sawet Piamphongsant, a prominent member of previous Thai government and restored to pristine order by his Daughter, Duangrudee over the last year, it is treasure not to be missed!

Enchanting garden.

Entering the Sobha Botanical Gardens, we were surrounded by beautifully and naturally decorated Gardens. In the Gardens stood elegant and authentic well-preserved three ancient Thai houses. We read previous reviews of the place mentioning lack of maintenance. Surprisingly when we got there we found that the gardens and the Thai houses were limpressively beautiful and neat. We later found out that they had been renovated and reopened for visitors just a week ago.

We enjoyed strolling in the gardens, each with its own theme; Enchanting Garden, Fragrant Garden, Herb Garden and so on. Hundreds of rare plants, shrubs and trees boast their flourishing leaves and flowers. In the rainy season, the gardens are even more lush and green. Don’t miss the giant old twining climbing tree next to the Thai houses that would marvel and mystify those who catch sight of it. Thai classical music sweetly resonated throughout the gardens, a reminiscence of the serene past far from our hectic world of today.

The ancient teakwood houses are equally, if not more, impressive and magnificent. They are very well-preserved and decorated with quality antiques. Once crossing the threshold of an exquisite door into an open terrace connecting the three houses, we stepped back in time and lost ourselves in enchantment of the traditional yet exotic ambiance of the long lost past. We simply fell in love with the place.

We could tell that the owner was very attentive in making this place educational with good signage and simultaneously recreational where visitors can soak in a relaxing atmosphere and tranquility. We got this place to ourselves and had plenty of charming and lovely spots for photography.

If you are in Ban Phe Rayong, whether you are going to Samed Island or other places, I highly recommend Sobha Botanical Gardens as a sanctuary of peace and delight.
